PATTERN DROP KNIFE WITH SHEATH. OSS drop knife fabricated during World War II from U.S. military swords for Philippine usage against the Japanese. This example is appropriately unmarked, with the double edged blade measuring 8" from the point to the guard, and with an overall length of 12 5/8". Handle is comprised of a black leather hose, featuring a 4-spike knuckle bow. UNATTACHED ACCESSORIES: unmarked blued steel sheath. CONDITION: blade retains traces of its original blue finish (primarily down by the guard), with the balance exhibiting a gray patina, with scattered spots of light to mild pitting and age related discoloration overall. Handle shows scattered marks from handling and storage, but otherwise remains sturdy and serviceable. Sheath retains the majority of its original blue finish, exhibiting scattered spots of surface oxidation overall. A rare blade type not often seen on the OSS Philippine drop knife.
