Lot 13 Remington 40-X .22 LR #4616

American made single-shot rimfire rifle chambered for .22 Long Rifle, and manufactured circa 1964 ('AL' date code). The 40-X rifles were under two different military contracts, with one in 1957, and the other in 1958. Rifle features a blued finish, receiver drilled and tapped for optic mounting, 6-1/4" picatinny rail mounted on top of the receiver, an approximately 28" tapered bull barrel, iron sights removed, swept back bolt handle with a checkered knob, serrated right receiver mounted manual safety, serrated curved trigger, and a plastic trigger guard. The refinished hardwood furniture consists of a semi-pistol gripped shoulder stock, smooth forend with accessory railway, sling stud holes in the forend and shoulder stock, and a serrated black rubber recoil pad with white and black spacers. The blued finish retained is approximately 97% with very minor scratches, and extremely light edge wear. Metal displays no rust, and only slight deformation in one of the stock screw slots. The bore is bright with strong rifling, and the action is smooth and crisp. The plastic trigger guard has a few scratches on it. The refinished furniture wood is in good condition with handling blemishes and edge wear.
Condition is NRA Near Very Good.
