REVOLVERS SERIAL # 1 & 2.Cal .36. S# A0001 & A0002. Bbl. 7 1/2" part round, part octagon with High Standard's Hamden, CT address, Libert Bell left, and "American Bicentennial / 1776-1976" atop. Deep bluing with bright nickel-plated frame, backstrap, trigger guard and loading lever. One-piece varnished French walnut grips. These 1851 Navy revolvers were High Standard's catalog number 9336, with a serial number range that ran from # A0000 - A2028. According to High Standard records, these are the Regular Bicentennial Model guns, serial numbers 1 and 2 in the "A" series and were two of a number of Bicentennial revolvers that shipped on the same invoice. These were all made for and shipped to the "Sportsman Emporium" in Philadelphia, PA for the American Bicentennial. They are exact 6-shot replicas of Colt's famous 1851 Navy revolver. CONDITION: both guns are unfired in their original boxes, serial numbered to the gun on each end label, with warranty card. Serial # A0001 exhibits no deficits, serial # A0002 shows a small edge bruise at right sharp lower edge of grip and a ding at left rear at the backstrap, with some factory tool marks beneath the nickel finish, no other deficits noted. An amazingly preserved pair of guns from the Bicentennial, all-the-more wonderful now that we are in the Semi-quincentennial of our great Nation (01-29577). BOTH ANTIQUE. $1,500-2,000 for lot.
