TRAPDOOR SADDLE RING CARBINE. Cal. 45-70. S#. 35455. Mfg. late 1874. Fit with a 22" round bbl with small L proof, iron block front sight and later Buffington carbine rear sight. The rec is marked 45 on the top flat & US on the right flat. The tang is stamped XX. High arch breech block is marked MODEL/1873/Eagle/US. Lock is marked US/SPRINGFIELD/1873 to the right of a federal eagle. Stock is only marked with a small inspection proof behind the trigger guard tang with no final inspection proof. Solid non compartmentalized butt & buttplate. Buttplate is stamped with a US as well as X. CONDITION: Overall good. The bbl and rec retain 90% of their reblued finish. Lock, hammer, breech block, & buttplate retain 60% of their original blue. Stock is sound with a few small chips around metal parts. Bright shiny bore. (01-29982/ZAL). ANTIQUE. $1000-2000
