Weimar era P.08 Luger holster produced by an unknown mfg. in 1929. Interior of body is marked "1929" and "166", with the holster otherwise being devoid of identifying markings. Dyed black leather construction, with interior featuring a loading tool pouch, as well as a flap and provision for a cleaning rod. Body features a possibly replacement black leather pull strap, which is knotted towards the end. Holster is accompanied by x1 8-rd. mag. with tinned body and wood plug transversely numbered "8969". CONDITION: holster remains malleable, exhibiting scattered marks from handling and storage, with some light age related cracking on closure flap and closure flap "hinge" flexion point. Stitching on left edge of hinge has come free. Body with unusual Mauser banner logo shaped (not believed to be a Mauser banner logo) impression beneath closure flap. Provision for cleaning rod exhibits a tear and losses to the stitching along the lower edge, with an apparent adhesive repair in corresponding area. Mag. is very good, with some light wear and some age related discoloration. Wood plug is very good to excellent. With production of the Second Pattern P.08 holster commencing circa. 1928/1929, this is an attractive and early example that is befitting of additional research. PROVENANCE: The Estate Collection of John Eckert. (02-26540-11/MLW). $600-1,000.
