SEMI-AUTOMATIC PISTOL. Cal. 9x19mm. S# 4825a. Bbl. 5 7/8". Navy Luger semi-automatic pistol mfg. by DWM in 1917 under contract for the Kriegsmarine. The top of the chamber is marked "1917" (repeated in smaller text on the left frame rail and left side of the front sight base), with a triad of navy proofs consisting of a crown and x2 Crown/M proofs marked on the left (sole crown proof repeated on left side of bbl. and breechblock). Toggle is marked with the intertwined "DWM" monogram. Metal components exhibit a reapplied blue finish overall. Frame is mounted with 2-piece checkered wood grips. Standard Navy pattern dovetailed blade front sight and 2-position V-notch rear sight graduated "100" and "200". All serialized parts are matching, to include the frame, takedown lever, sideplate, trigger, safety lever & bar, hold-open latch, bbl., bbl. extension, trigger bar, breechblock, and toggles. Firing pin and grips are unnumbered. MAGS: x1 reblued 8-rd., with non-matching imperially proofed (not Crown/M) mag. CONDITION: metal components retain fair to good amounts of their reapplied blue finish, exhibiting wear and thinning overall that has faded to brown patina. Takedown lever, trigger, and mag. button have been cleaned in-the-white. Bore is relatively bright, exhibiting consistent mild pitting, while retaining good, albeit worn rifling throughout. Proper manual mechanics. Grips show light to mild smoothing, as well as a couple of minor superficial marks from handling and storage, but otherwise remain sound. (26-3391/MLW). CURIO. $1,200-1,800.
