Vintage Double Barrel Hammer Percussion Cap Handgun 50 Cal Black Powder.

This gun is likely a Continental Howdah Pistol. Howdah pistols are large-caliber handguns (typically
with double or quad-barrels) originally developed in the 19th century for British officers and hunters
in Africa and India.
The term Howdah comes from the platform mounted on the back of an elephant, where hunters sat.
These pistols served as last-ditch, close-range defense against charging big cats or other dangerous
wildlife. This is circa 1840.

This is a nice looking Vintage Percussion Cap Pistol.

Wood stock is in good condition - a little wood loss at edge on left side.

The right hand Barrel does not have a Cap Nipple.

Has double triggers and tamping rod with wood shaft.
Barrels are plan and there is basic engraving pattern on the back action lock plates
Handle grip has small compartment in heel with flip up lid

There are no Makers markings or proof marks anywere on this gun. Under the barrels is a XIII and that is all.
There is a repair done to bracket that holds the wood to the barrel. Its unseen until you remove the flat
pin and take barrels off.
