Lot 5428 WELL CRAFTED WM BUCHELE CONTEMPORARY SILVER
MOUNTED FLINTLOCK PISTOL. Cal. 45. S# NSN. William Buchele was one of the premier Kentucky rifle builders of the 60's. He was also co-author of "Recreating the American Long Rifle". The 9" half round half octagon browned barrel with wedding ring transition is engraved "Wm Buchele" on top flat. Unmarked lock has rebated tail, inset pan, bridled friction frizzen and feather spring with bulbous finial. Dramatic curly maple stock with birds head stock extends to muzzle with silver cap and attaches to barrel with 2 side bolts through relief scroll cast silver escutcheons. All mounts are scroll inspired relief silver with large relief stooping eagle on grip cap. CONDITION: very fine retaining nearly all original finishes on wood and metal. Bore is dark.
