32" curved blade, "N.P. AMES / CABOTVILLE / 1846" and "US / NWP" (Nathan w Patch-inspector) stamped on either side of blade. CONDITION: about as fine an example of Mexican War saber that survives. Bright blade, complete grip, scabbard has smooth dark patina with scattered pitting, inspection marks on drag are worn and partial. PROVENANCE: Marcus Porpora lifelong sword collection. (02-26424-9/JS). NON-GUN. $800-1,200.
