Standard model 1833 dragoon saber, "MS" surcharge on quillon for Massachusetts, most likely made for company of Boston's "NATIONAL LANCERS". Number "1" stamped in same distinctive large font on throat of scabbard. Highest numbers are double digits, though less than 100 made. CONDITION: good overall, blade heavily buffed, marking weak, scabbard polished, toned patina, very good complete leather grip with wire wrap. PROVENANCE: Marcus Porpora lifelong sword collection. (02-26424-8/JS). NON-GUN. $2,000-3,000.
