Cal. 36. S# 34. 10" overall, 5" six-barrel cluster pepperbox with nipple shield marked on two barrel ribs "ALLEN & THURBER WORCESTER MASS" & "PATENTED 1837 CAST STEEL". Bar hammer is marked on left side "ALLEN'S PATENT", spurred trigger guard, 2-piece grips are varnished walnut. Casing made for display is red velvet lined and compartmentalized for pistol, 2-cavity mold, powder flask, loose balls, wood handled cleaning rod, wood handled screwdriver, cap tin, patches, and non-functioning key. CONDITION: very good overall, all matching & complete. Barrel cluster has plum/blue patina, good markings, good filed area at end of address. Engraved frame and nipple shield are mottled gray/white, grips retain some of their original varnish. Double action functions well, good dirty rifled bores. Accompanying display casing and accoutrements are good. PROVENANCE: ex-Paul Henry collection. (01-28116/JS). ANTIQUE. $2,500-3,000.
