Cal. 44. S# 115252. Bbl 8" octagon with exposed threads and blade front sight. Top flat has Sept 14, 1858 patent date. Round 6 shot cylinder has safety stops. Blue finish with brass trigger guard. Low spur hammer. Major parts have "C", "W" or "J" inspection marks. Walnut grips. Bottom of grip strap has scratched marking that may be initials "P J". Approx. 122,000 mfg. 1863-1875. CONDITION: metal in cleaned gray appearance showing scattered pitting. Sanded and refinished grips show dents & marks with a chip at the toe of the left panel. Functioning action slightly out of time. Pitted bore retains intact rifling. (01-29367/DS). ANTIQUE. $1,500-2,000.
