Cal 54. NSN. Standard configuration of martial single shot pistol, 8.5" round barrel, brass crescent blade front sight, brass furniture, lock marked "US / H. ASTON & CO" forward of hammer, "MIDDtn / CONN / 1852" vertically at tail, walnut stock, captured ramrod assembly. Barrel is inspected "US / WN / P" (Walter North). Small sub inspector initials found on all 4 brass furniture parts, barrel, and ramrod. CONDITION: very good overall, all original and matching, good markings, mechanics fine, clear smooth bore, crisp pair of clear inspection cartouches, "WN" & "WAT" (Wm. A. Thornton).
