13.5" overall, 8" clip point blade, "GEORGE / BERLEYS / CELEBRATED / CUTLERY" stamped on ricasso, bulbous checkered rosewood handle, German silver clam shell pommel, grape leaf & grape decorated ferrule, gold embossed Moroccan veneered German silver mounted sheath. Berley listed as cutler 1851-1859, his knives are rarely offered. CONDITION: very good overall, blade retains original luster & polish, sharpening, bent reshaped point, sheath has scuffing. PROVENANCE: estate collection of Compton LaBauve, Jr. (02-26471/JS). NON-GUN. $3,000-4,000.
