^Lot 5036 COLT 1860 ARMY RICHARDS CONVERSION CARTRIDGE

REVOLVER. Cal. 44 Colt CF. S#190791. Approx. 9000 1860 Army revolvers were converted with Richards conversions from 1871-78. They have a 6 shot rebated cylinder with an ejector rod attached to the barrel which is typically found with an 8" length. The conversion process also involved removing the loading lever. This example has had it's barrel shortened to 5 1/4" with a single line address -ADDRESS COL. SAM COLT NEW-YORK U.S. AMERICA-. The left shoulder of the trigger guard is stamped 44 Cal. The cylinder is rolled with the factory applied naval engagement scene. Frame patent marking reads "COLTS/PATENT". It has all matching numbers including the last four digits on the arbor with the exception of the unnumbered wedge and replacement walnut grips. CONDITION: Overall good. The firearm was nickeled with parts retaining some plating in the protected area. Bbl has remaining plating 10% located mostly on the bottom and the balance having a mottled grey patina. Approx 20% of the cyl scene remains with the last four digits of the serial number visible and engaged date legible. Straps have approx 10% of the plating remaining in the protected areas. The grips are well fit with a modern core and sanded. Metal surfaces have some dents with some moderate denting found on the cylinder. Very nice bore with good sharp rifling, mild frosting in the grooves, and a few mild spots of pitting. (01-29503/ZAL) ANTIQUE $1500-2250
