Cal. 52 RF. S# 60046. Approx 50,000 Civil War Spencer carbines were mfg within a SN range of 11000-61000. This example is fitted with 22" matching SN, 6-groove bbl with iron lug front sight having a German silver insert, & replacement period ladder rear sight. The forearm is held in place with a single iron band and screw. The walnut buttstock fits nicely and has no visible cartouche. Sub-inspector marks are found on many of the small parts. CONDITION: overall good. Metal has an even grey patina with some minor smooth mottled oxidation. Good stock set with some scattered dings. Very nice bore with lightly worn rifling and a few very faint pits. (01-28991/ZAL). ANTIQUE. $1,200-1,800.
