Lot 4251 CONSECUTIVELY NUMBERED COLT 1st GEN. ENGRAVED SAA

CASED PAIR REVOLVERS. BOTH: Cal. 38 WCF, (38-40). Bbls. 5 1/2". S# 288210 & 288211. Six shot fluted cylinder. Revolver features well executed custom period engraving similar to "B" level engraving. Frame, bbl., cyls. & grip straps have vine type foliate scroll w/ punch dot backgrounds having wavy & straight line borders & highlights. Period nickel refinish, likely done at time of engraving. 2-piece pearl grips. The factory letter for gun SN 288210 indicates that it was shipped to Montgomery Ward & Company in Chicago, IL with a 7 1/2", blued finish, unlisted stocks, chambered in 32/20 with 10 other guns in 1907. UNATTACHED ACCESSORIES: Colt Factory letter. CONDITION: S# 288210: Metal overall retains 97%+ period custom nickel refinish with scattered light handling marks in spots of discoloration. Small area of cleaned oxidation at rear of hammer. Pearl grips are very good+ with only exceptionally minor losses at butt. Action good with all four clicks present. Good bore with lightly frosted appearance which is not uncommon for a gun of this age. (26-1938, 26-1939/BH). BOTH CURIOS. $14,500-19,500.
