Lot 4229 COLT SINGLE ACTION ARMY ARTILLERY MODEL REVOLVER.

Cal. 45 Colt. S# 7911. The Colt factory and Springfield Armory altered and rebuilt earlier single actions for use in the Spanish-American War and the Philippines. Many of the components of this revolver were originally proofed by Orville Ainsworth, including the trigger guard, back strap, cylinder, & bbl. The grips were inspected by Rinaldo Carr, with RAC stamped on each side of the butt and the oval RAC proof on the right side of the grips. It is fitted with the reworked 5 1/2" bbl with 1-Line Hartford address. Frame is marked with US next to the 2-line patent marking. Coarse checkered hammer. The straps are the only matching components to one another. CONDITION: Overall good. The bbl has 40% of the arsenal reworked finish with good markings and scattered dings. The remaining metal components are void of finish with an even grey patina. The stocks are very nice with good markings and a few edge chips. Bore is frosted with some rifling wear. (01-29490/ZAL) ANTIQUE $5000-8000
