RIFLE. Cal. 38 WCF. S# 478166. Mfg. 1894. This rifle was built into a carbine style with a circle P mail order bbl, that was also proofed by the factory prior to shipment. It is fitted with a iron block carbine front sight and fixed single leaf rear sight. The stepped receiver has a serrated edge dust cover with integral guide rail and 2nd style "MODEL. 1873" tang marking with foliate accents. Custom checkered carbine forearm with single bbl band and rifle butt with trapdoor smooth steel crescent buttplate. Crisp markings. CONDITION: overall very good as refinished. The metal has a descent modern applied blued finish over some minor pits. Stock is very good with some scattered minor scuffs and handling marks. Fair frosted bore with some light pitting and decent lightly worn rifling. (01-28796/ZAL). ANTIQUE. $1,000-1,500.
