Lot 3400 SCARCE 6-1/2" RUGER OLD MODEL SUPER BLACKHAWK

REVOLVER. Cal. 44 Mag. S# 25283. Bbl. 6 1/2" with serrated blade on ramped base; factory frame mounted adjustable rear sight. Mfg. 1966 (1959-1973) as Model S46 having eagle logo near barrel address (without "INC."). Created by mistake when a worker thought he was preparing 6 1/2" 41 Mag. barrel stock but actually was using 44 caliber stock. Being frugal, the company just shipped them in standard S47 (7 1/2") boxes and occasionally affixed a white sticker that had "6 1/2" ink penned on it plus some just had the "6 1/2" inked to the box label end; most were unmarked. Standard features of wide spur hammer, wide serrated trigger, unfluted counterbored cylinder, alloy ejector housing and Dragoon style grip frame having walnut grips with black eagle medallions. Does not have factory safety update parts; original lockwork. UNATTACHED ACCESSORIES: original black and red 2 piece box with October 1, 1965 manual and owner's portion of warranty card. Box cover has scuffs, a slight peeling of label end and a broken corner. Bottom condition is similar with a break within the lower short edge from a barrel bump; overall good appearing box. CONDITION: faint thinning on left side of barrel at muzzle and high edges at front of cylinder along with a barely visible beginning turn line; all other aspects near excellent including bore and grips. Superb factory refinish having plum hued (faint) cylinder frame. (26-1079/NW). CURIO. $1,000-1,500.
