BOLT ACTION RIFLE. Cal. 30-06. S# 1528. Bbl. 24” medium weight. Top bbl. flat is marked “No. 1528 Griffin & Howe Inc. New York”. Bead front sight with knurled hood is mounted on a bbl. band base with stippled ramp. The Lyman receiver sight is mounted on the right side of the action. The Carl Zeiss 3/4” tube scope with post reticle and leather cover is held by a Griffin & Howe side mount. Custom action features stippling on the front ring, custom bolt handle with flattened inside surface and 2 panel checkering. Damascened finish on the bolt body, extractor, feed ramp and carrier. Two stage trigger has a checkered front surface. Floorplate has a semicircle of fine checkering along front edge. Classic style straight comb stock with shadow line cheekpiece has beautiful burl in the butt with vivid black, brown and red tones. Stock features include a German silver oval plate in toe line, sculpted steel grip cap with engraved screw, horn forearm cap and wrap around hand checkering. Front sling base is bbl. band mounted. LOP is 13 1/2” over a checkered steel trap door butt plate with highlights of scroll engraving. Weight with scope is 8.6 lbs. Founded in 1923 by Seymour Griffin and James Howe, G&H continues to be one of the premier builders of fine custom rifles. Approximately 2800 have been produced from 1923 to present. CONDITION: near excellent retaining over 98% blue. Stock finish shows a few small marks. Very good bright bore. Scope optics are clear. (26-1019/DS). MODERN. $4,500-6,000.
