Lot 2500 2 JAPANESE SHIN-GUNTO KATANA.
1) Overall length is 38" with a 25 3/4" blade having a light straight hamon and a gilded brass habaki covered in lacquer. Plain iron tsuba with 1 large iron seppa above and below. The nakago has a three character signature on one side with an anchor stamp on the same side. There is also three black painted Japanese figures on the nakago. Matching fuchi and kabuto-gane with black painted same and iron three cherry blossom menuki on each side. Dark brown tuska-ito. Black lacquered wooden saya with a fish skin motif along with matching iron gunto. CONDITION: blade has a very fine polish. Tsuka has been covered with lacquer that has darkened with age. Saya generally shows light wear with minor scuffs and scrapes to finish. 2) Overall length is 38" with a 26 3/4" blade numbered "66795" with no visible hamon and having a full length hi. Gilded brass habaki with a plain pierced brass four lobed tsuba. The nakago has not been viewed because the tsuka can not be removed. The tsuka is solid brass simulating an earlier wrapped tsuka. Metal saya with an olive drab painted finish and western style drag. CONDITION: blade has a good polish. Tsuka is quite worn with no painted finish remaining. Saya generally shows light wear.
