Lot 2445 BRITISH SNIDER-ENFIELD MARK III BREECH LOADING

RIFLE. Cal. .577 Snider. The Mark III rifles were original mfg steel bbl examples that featured a latch lock breech block and flat nose hammer. It is fitted with a 36" proofed bbl held by 3 split bbl bands. Iron block mounted blade front sight & ladder adj leaf rear sight. Lock is marked "CROWN/1871/ENFIELD" & "CROWN/V.R.". Brass furniture. 1-piece walnut stock with Enfield cartouche on the right butt. CONDITION: Overall good. Bbl and iron components have an even dark patina. Stock has been lightly sanded with hand wear. Cartouche is mostly visible. Dark bore with pitting and lightly worn rifling. PROVENANCE: Military Museum Collection of Shooters Outpost, Hooksett NH.
