^Lot 2075 REMINGTON U.S.M.C. M40 STYLE BOLT ACTION SCOUT

SNIPER RIFLE. Cal. 7.62x51. S# 189386. This rifle was built to replicate the Remington M40 Sniper Rifle adopted by the US Marine Corp in 1966 during the Vietnam war. The Remington M40 & Redfield scope replaced the Winchester Model 70 & Unertl scope & served the Marine Corp. for decades.
Bbl. code "UEN" appears to indicate Oct. 1966 mfg.; majority of Remington rifles were within S# range 200,000-322,800. While this rifle is stamped "US" above S#, it differs in location from other examples. Parkerized 24" bbl. w/out sights; free-floating from stock. Remington 700 action w/ clip guide & matching numbered bolt; black finished triggerguard with black anodized hinged floorplate. Redfield Junior 3-9x scope w/ S# F57822, green anodized finish, & Accu-range reticle on matte black Redfield rings & base; both scope & base show no matching electro-penciled number. Monte Carlo oil finish walnut stock w/ cheek rest, greenish glass bedding & black painted Remington commercial alloy buttplate. CONDITION: over 95% parkerized finish on receiver & barrel with some spots of fading & scattered stain spots. Over 90% black painted & anodized finish with wear spots. Stock has light refinish with marks from swivels, some areas of wear & streaks of washed finish. Shiny bore with strong rifling & light frosting towards muzzle; Bolt face shows little wear.
