Cal. 30-06. S# 2505198. Receiver mfg. Dec. 1943 to March 1944 with 2-44 dated barrel. Springfield operating rod, trigger housing & bolt. Cross slotted cyl. lock screw. Locking bar on windage knob. Walnut stock set with "DOD" cartouche plus circle "P" in front of grip. Top rear of buttstock has "17" painted rack number. "DM" marked hammer and blued stamped trigger guard. CONDITION: throat and muzzle of near excellent bore both gauge 1.0. Replacement gas cylinder with very good finish. In the white front sight; rear sight is missing elevation knob plus cleaned sight cover without finish (slight pitting remaining). Barrel is without finish at front plus thin finish by date. Receiver has cleaned light pitting (mostly on left side) plus beginning patina on bolt. Good stock set with numerous light handling marks; replacement appearing front handguard. Good to very good sling. (26-922/NW). CURIO. $1,000-1,500
