Cal. 30 Carbine. S# 2887995. Bbl. 18". Barrel marked behind front sight "UNDERWOOD / 2-44 / flaming bomb". Flip type rear sight appears to be original installation. Blade front sight with protective ears. Sight is marked "EU". Narrow barrel band with stamped swivel. Straight cut slide marked ".U.". Flat bolt marked "WU". Receiver is marked at rear with faint flaming bomb. Fabricated trigger housing is unmarked. Push button safety. Magazine catch marked "AU". Straight cut hammer marked "QU". Walnut stock set. Low-wood oval-cut buttstock is marked "PU" in sling slot. Right side of butt has boxed "GHD", "U.E.F." and "crossed cannons". Two rivet handguard appears to be marked "MC". Well-worn period web sling. MAGS: one detachable 15 round magazine. CONDITION: buttstock is well-worn from extensive surface and has numerous handling marks throughout. Notable deep scratch on right side of forend. Cracks appear on right side behind oiler slot. Crack at bottom of stock behind trigger guard. Replacement buttplate does not fit the stock correctly. Metal has turned mostly a worn gray throughout with scattered handling marks. Traces of original finish remain in protected areas. Very good shiny bore. (25-6282/RW). CURIO. $800-1,200.
