Lafette 42 (MG42) tripod mfg. in 1941 by Metallindustrie Schonebeck A.G. Top of the tripod is marked with an Eagle/WaA78 proof, followed by Metallindustrie's mfg. "dar", as well as "1941/ 4667/ e". Left side of T&E mechanism is marked "cql/ 43/ 567/ h" indicating mfg. by Heinrich H Klussendorf Werkzeuge. Steel construction with a green painted finish, brown leather pads, and brown leather shoulder straps. T&E mechanism exhibits a black enamel and/or blue finish overall. CONDITION: tripod retains the majority of its period painted finish, exhibiting scattered marks from handling and storage, and scattered spots of flaking, many of which show through to a layer of red primer paint. Leather pads show wear, as well as scattered marks and impressions from handling and storage, but otherwise remain sound. Shoulder straps remain malleable, exhibiting some minor age related cracking and crazing. PROVENANCE: Military Museum Collection of Shooters Outpost, Hooksett NH. (02-27400/MLW).
