Lot 1414B BATTLE DAMAGED GERMAN WWI HEBEL MODEL 1894 FLARE
PISTOL. Cal. 26.5mm. S# FL8576. Bbl. 9" smoothbore. No sights are fitted. Frame has what appears to be a bullet strike on the upper right side near the nose of the hammer. Frame is marked with "BU" proofs and a tiny "crown / A" acceptance mark on the right side. The "Hebel" refers not to the maker, but to the underlever which opens the gun. Smooth walnut grips. Lanyard ring on butt. CONDITION: grips have moderate wear, staining and missing chips at lower edge. Metal has traces of blue turning overall gray and patina with oxidation and handling marks throughout. Dark pitted oxidized bore. PROVENANCE: Military Museum Collection of Shooters Outpost, Hooksett NH. (02-27397/RW). NON-GUN. $400-600.
