A very early XM numbered receiver, originally built for the M16AR (Auto Rifle) the Open Bolt LMG, designed for the United States Marine Corps. Marked on right mag well "USMC" with safe & fire selector positions since it was designed for only "safe" and Full Auto" as a squad automatic weapon, though it be built up with regular M16 fire control group components for traditional use. This is a VERY rare piece, found in very few serious Colt collections. PROVENANCE: Military Museum Collection of Shooters Outpost, Hooksett NH.
