U. S. Model 1817 Henry Deringer Percussion Conversion Rifle, #NVSN, .62 cal., 35-3/4" round barrel, browned finish. Full-length wood stock with three barrel bands, oval patch box, "U.S." marked buttplate, one sling swivel on second barrel band and another on lower trigger guard base. Fixed blade front sight and added fixed rear sight. Includes flared ramrod. There is a small oval escutcheon on the top of the wrist area of the buttstock. Marked "LS", "US", with a circled "P" on top of the barrel at the breech. Lockplate is marked "U.S." over "H. DERINGER" over "PHILADa". Overall condition of this early U.S. percussion conversion military rifle is fair, displaying approx. 70%-75% un-cleaned browned finish to metal surfaces. Wood is also fair, showing an old loss to the release pin of the oval patch box, two old hairline cracks on right side of the buttstock at the buttplate; two additional hairline cracks on the left side of the fore stock area behind the plain lock plate base, and another old crack on the right side in front of the rear barrel band; none appear to effect the overall strength of the forend. Otherwise, showing numerous old mars and scratches. Action is non-functioning; bore is dark. Est.: $600-$800. (Antique)
