Winchester Model 1885 Low Wall Single Shot Rifle, #100392, rechambered to .25- 21 Stevens cal., 26" half-octagon/half-round barrel, blue finish. Smooth walnut straight grip stock with Schnabel forend, and smooth steel crescent buttplate; providing a 13- 1/8" LOP. Rifle also features dovetailed King No. 1 "Triple Bead" front sight, buckhorn rear sight, with two extra vacant drilled and tapped holes on the barrel. Lever assembly is color case hardened. Factory markings are legible but lighter at the tang. The barrel was originally marked for "25-20 S.S." caliber; the "20" has been obliterated and restamped "21". Winchester "WP" proofs on the barrel and receiver are well-defined. Mfg'd 1905. Rifle is in very good overall condition, retaining approx. 60%-65% thinning finish, with wear and moderate pitting at the muzzle, showing scattered mild erosion and thinning finish along the barrel. Left side of the receiver has been cleaned, with light erosion on the front ring and pinprick pitting on the block. Stock is in very good condition, with scattered indentations and handling marks. Action functions well and locks up securely. Bore is good with some visible light erosion and defined rifling. Est.: $1,500-$2,000. (C&R)
