Lot 1471 MEXICAN CONTRACT STEYR MODEL 1907 BOLT ACTION
RIFLE. Cal. 7mm Mauser. S# "S"A800. Bbl. 29 1/2". Model 1907 bolt action rifle mfg. in Austria by Steyr under contract for Mexico. The receiver is marked "REPUBLICA MEXICANA" above the Mexican coat of arms and "1912" (repeated on right side of buttstock) over the chamber, with the S# and "WAFFENFABRIK STEYR/ AUSTRIA" marked on the left. Metal components exhibit a blue finish overall, save for on the bolt and follower, which are in-the-white. 1-piece plain wood pistol grip stock and handguard. Underside of wrist is marked "RM". Dovetailed blade front sight with tangent V-notch rear sight graduated 3-20. Matching numbers are present on the receiver and trigger guard, with remaining parts/components being mismatched. CONDITION: blued parts retain fair to good amounts of their arsenal blue finish, exhibiting wear fading to gray and brown patinas, consistent light surface oxidation, as well as areas of mild to moderate pitting overall. In-the-white parts have primarily faded to a dark gray patina. Dark bore, exhibiting consistent darkened mild pitting and a ring bulge towards the muzzle, while retaining good, albeit worn rifling throughout. Proper manual mechanics. Wood furniture shows scattered marks and impressions from handling and storage, but otherwise remains sound. (26-1776/MLW). CURIO. $250-500.
