Lot 1404 SOUTH KOREAN CONVERTED T99 ARISAKA BOLT ACTION
RIFLE. Cal. 30-06. S# 65893. Bbl. 25 7/8". Standard early T99 sights with missing AA wings on rear sight. Scarce early configuration Type 99 Arisaka converted to 30-06 for use by South Korean forces during the Korean War. Receiver is notched for 30-06 round. Mismatched numbers throughout. Top of receiver is notched for 30-06 with ground mum and Type 99 characters. Left side of receiver has faint "US CAL 30", Toyo Kogyo & 30th series marking. Some markings have added highlight paint. Asian hardwood stock with left side sling swivels & military style canvas sling. Left side of stock has two added white paint markings that are likely spurious such as "US". No cleaning rod present. CONDITION: handguard has a refinished appearance with stock showing some scattered sticker remnants, a long grain crack on butt below stock joint, a couple long handguard cracks, a couple smaller cracks, a couple chips, scattered dings, scratches, gouges & handling marks. Metal is mostly a dull gray color with some old black paint on bottom metal, scattered oxidation, handling marks & edge wear. Follower will stick upward & may need attention to fix. Action otherwise functions properly when hand cycled. Bore shows one patch of pitting but is mostly bright with strong rifling. (25-1365/MJC). CURIO. $200-400.
