Good details of faces & clothing; larger group photo has probable white overseer at far right. 1847 New Orleans character reference of a negro man. Antebellum listing of population breakdown of Louisiana Parishes & Districts; interesting that there were over 8000 free people of color and 17000 slaves in New Orleans. 1844 dated printed New Orleans slave bill of sale. Four 1837-1846 legal documents concerning slave sales. CONDITION: good overall, light soiling & staining on documents, photos are toned, chipped board edges, staining, but good contrast & clarity. PROVENANCE: Estate collection of Compton LaBauve Jr. (02-26476-13/JS). NON-GUN. $500-1,000.
