Lot 1179 12 WWII NAVAL SHIP IDENTIFICATION MODELS IN THEIR

ORIGINAL DIVIDED WOODEN CASE. This group represents a variety of ship identification models of the WWII era produced by the United States. They are housed in a rare folding Comet Metal Product wooden case stenciled "JAPANESE NAVY" measuring 37" x 16 1/2" x 6 1/2" with 14 interior compartments. The case is painted gray with one yellow end and interior trim. The interior is painted white with sliding wooden shelves. The scale is assumed to be 1:500, however the bow to stern measurement varies between 18" to 7 1/8". Ships appear to be identified on either paper or on the base of the ship. We believe the named ships to be Admiral Sheer, a Fuso class ship, Kongo, a Nelson class ship, North Carolina, Naiori, Mogani, Aoba, a Dido class ship, and three unidentified ships. Ships are gray in color and most appear to have wooden bases. All ships made by Comet Metal Products. CONDITION: ships generally show light wear and a few have superstructures or tall antenna masts that are slightly bent. The wooden case shows ample handling wear but no significant damage. (02-23438/BF). NON-GUN. $500-1,000.
