This entire lot is from Private Aloysius M. Franz of Co. F, 108th Engineers of the 33rd Division of the US Army Expeditionary Force during WWI. The lot contains an extraordinary personalized diary covering 3 May 1918 to 4 June 1919. The diary describes the poor conditions in the foxholes and trenches, military engagements, personal comments, and more general facts and information of great interest to both collectors and historians. Also included is 5 Wound/service chevrons, 2 Discharge chevrons, 1 Small book of the 33rd Division, 2 Pairs of dog tags to Franz, 1 Victory medal with3 bars, 4 Collar disks, 4 US uniform buttons, 1 Overseas hat engineer's castle, 1 Engineer's sleeve patch, 1 Medics sleeve patch, 17 Foreign WWI military buttons, 1 Archive of ephemera belonging to Franz that includes photos, maps, booklets, post cards, letters and more, 1 Gas mask with carrying pouch, 1 ID bracelet with Franz's name and unit, 2 puttees, 2 Medical bags, 1 Overseas cap with engineer disk,1 Tour book for the 108th Engineers, 1 Match safe that reads " FROM VERDUN TO USA " & " FRANCE 1918 ". 1 Map case, and 1 Maxim machine gun belt.
