Lot 3418 EUROPEAN GENERAL OFFICER SWORD.

A fine example of a late 18th or early 19th century sword likely for a general officer. The sword measures 35 1/2" overall with a 29 1/2" blade that is decorated with gilded etching on a blued field. Etching includes sprays of arms and foliate motifs and the ricasso is stamped with a king's head indicating manufacture by Weyersberg of Solingen. Silvered brass boat hilt with acorn shaped pommel. Wire wrapped grip. No scabbard. CONDITION: sword shows light wear overall. PROVENANCE: Estate Collection of Nicholas Apergis. (02-24676/BF). NON-GUN. $400-600.
