Lot 3091 PAIR OF NATIONAL ARMS CO. SECOND MODEL DERRINGER
PISTOLS. 1) Cal. 41. S# 7436. Bbl. 2 1/2". Second Model derringer pistol mfg. by National Arms Co. Top of the bbl. is marked with National Arms' mfg. information. S# "7436" is marked on the underside on the bbl. Sides of frame feature scroll engraving on a punch dot background, with additional scrollwork engraved on the sides of the bbl., as well as behind the hammer. Bbl. exhibits a silver plated finish. Frame is mounted with 2-piece plain natural white grips. Half-moon blade front sight of apparent silver. Grips appear to be numbered "7438", which is handwritten on the interior of the panels. CONDITION: frame has faded to a dull gray patina, showing some scattered spots of dark oxidation. Bbl. retains fair amounts of its silver plated finish, exhibiting scattered spots and large areas of flaking showing through to a brown patina, with some scattered spots/patches of dark surface oxidation. Bright bore, exhibiting scattered spots of bubbling and oxidation, while retaining strong rifling throughout. Proper manual mechanics. Grips have acquired a yellowed appearance, showing scattered scratches, superficial handling marks, some checks, as well as some minor cracking around the screw escutcheon. 2) Cal. 41. S# 7443. Bbl. 2 1/2". Second Model derringer pistol mfg. by National Arms Co. Top of the bbl. is marked with National Arms' mfg. information. S# "7443" is marked on the underside of the bbl. Sides of frame exhibit scroll engraving on a punch dot background, with additional scrollwork present on the sides of the bbl., as well as behind the hammer. Bbl. exhibits a silver plated finish. Frame is mounted with 2-piece plain natural white grips. Apparent silver half-moon blade front sight. Grips are matching via "7443", which is handwritten on the interior of the panels. CONDITION: frame has faded to a mottled gray patina, showing scattered spots/patches of light pitting and age related discoloration. Bbl. retains fair amounts of its silver plated finish, showing spots and large areas of flaking that show through to gray/brown patina. Bright bore, exhibiting some scattered spots of bubbling and oxidation, while retaining strong rifling throughout. Proper manual mechanics. Grips have acquired a yellowed appearance, exhibiting some superficial scratches and handling marks. Right grip panel exhibits some cracking around the screw escutcheon, with small cracks and checking present on the butt. (01-26971/MLW). BOTH ANTIQUE. $500-700.
