Lot 3056 ETCHED & ENGRAVED MOORE'S PATENT FIREARMS
TEAT-FIRE SINGLE ACTION REVOLVER. Cal. 32 Teat-Fire. S# 14111. Bbl. 3 1/4". Teat-Fire revolver mfg. by Moore's Patent Firearms circa. 1864-1870. Top of the bbl. is marked "MOORE'S PAT FIRE ARMS CO. BROOKLYN N.Y.", with the S# "14111" on the underside. Cyl. is marked "D. WILLIAMSON'S PATENT JANUARY 5.1864". Brass frame features bordered and unbordered sections of engraving consisting of vine type foliate scrollwork, with small flares of engraving present on the sides of the bbl. Cyl. features near full coverage etching around its circumference, consisting of a scene of game birds and a hunting dog. Frame exhibits a nickel plated finish, and is mounted with 2-piece plain wood bird's head grips. German silver half-moon blade front sight with hammer notched rear sight. All numbered parts are matching via "E.G.11" and include the frame (beneath left grip panel), cyl. (rear), cyl. base pin, bbl. (interior face, S# "14111" on underside), as well as the grips. Bbl. wedge is absent and has been replaced with a section of wood. CONDITION: frame retains fair amounts of its nickel plated finish, exhibiting scattered marks and small dings, as well as areas of flaking and wear overall that show through to a mellow patinaed brass. Bbl. and cyl. have faded to a gray patina, exhibiting scattered patches of age related discoloration. Bbl. shows some patches of dark surface oxidation, as well as some striations from prior cleaning. Mostly bright bore, exhibiting scattered spots and patches of dark oxidation / pitting. Proper manual mechanics. Grips show numerous scattered marks and small impressions from handling and storage, with scattered spots of flaking and wear to their varnish finish. Right grip exhibits a chip at the top right edge of the panel. (01-29069/MLW). ANTIQUE. $600-900.
