Lot 3002 ELEGANT LONG SILVER MOUNTED ENGLISH OFFICER'S
FLINTLOCK PISTOL, CIRCA 1815. Cal. 60. NSN. 20" overall, very long 14" 2-stage octagonal to round tapered barrel, engraved breech, "LONDON" on top, platinum lined touch hole, chamfered lock, waterproof pan, rebated engraved pointed tail beveled flat serpentine cock & bridled roller frizzen. Frizzen spring has flared bulbous finial. Mountings are all silver plated or silver. The armorial cut out sideplate is exquisite & winged figure on butt shows interesting detail. European walnut stock attached to barrel with 2 keys, and has fine silver wire insets Light wood ramrod has ebony tip. William Jones worked early to mid 19th century and examples of his arms are found in museum collections worldwide. CONDITION: very good overall, appears complete, matching, and original. Lock and barrel have smooth gray patina; damascene twist of barrel is easily discerned. Stock is well fit with hand worn patina, minor cosmetic defects. Mechanics are fine with smooth clear bore.
