. Cal. 38 S&W. S# 1440. Bbl. 4". Round blade front sight. Fixed rear sight. Stamped matching numbers on grip frame, bbl., cyl. & extractor. Grip frame & bbl. have factory rework stars. 5-shot cyl. Renickel finish. Checkered walnut diamond center grips with stencil matching right panel & gold S&W medallions. CONDITION: grips show light chips, notable checkering wear, dings & handling marks. Trigger & hammer are mostly a gray patina with scattered traces of case colors & oxidation. Balance of metal retains 90% factory renickel with scattered finished over pitting, some handling marks, light flaking & oxidation. Action is functional but appears to have a slight timing issue where cyl. rotation is delayed when hammer is cocked. Bore shows notable pitting along its length but has visible rifling. (26-99/MJC).
