Lot 2337 THOMPSON CENTER CONTENDER 414 SUPER MAG. SINGLE
SHOT CARBINE. Cal. 414 Super Mag. S# 191083. Bbl. 16 3/16" blued Rochester, NH marked barrel additionally with TCA logo and "Super 16" having recessed target crown. Mfg. last half of 1981 (1967-2000) with blued finish plus Puma photo engraving on sides of frame. Fitted with factory screw on Patridge blade front sight and factory marked long rear sight with provision for screw in aperture rather than notched blade; also drilled and tapped (with plug screws) at approximate mid point for standard sight. Long, rifle forend by T/C attached by 2 screws plus sling stud. Buttstock is Choate side folder which makes this a very compact rifle that is easy to tote. UNATTACHED ACCESSORIES: original box for barrel with scuffs and marks on top. CONDITION: some occasional light use marks, but generally very good to excellent. Bore is bright with distinct rifling, but after rigorous cleaning there remains what looks like extremely faint pitting or firing residue at portion of bore closest to chamber. Has not been modified to "easy open" style. PROVENANCE: Estate of Groves Herrick. (25-5750/NW). MODERN. $450-600.
