Lot 2043 PRE-WAR WINCHESTER MODEL 42 PUMP ACTION SHOTGUN.
Cal. .410 GA, 3". S# 36795. Bbl. 26". Model 42 pump action shotgun mfg. by Winchester in 1939. Left side of the bbl. is marked with the model and cal. designations, followed by a "SKEET" choke marking, with Winchester's 2-line mfg. and patent information marked on the right. Metal components exhibit a blue finish overall, save for on the bolt and carrier, which are polished in-the-white. Checkered wood forearm and pistol grip buttstock with Winchester checkered brown hard rubber buttplate. Base of pistol grip exhibits a small hole at the center. Bbl. features a solid matte rib with an aluminum bead front sight. Matching numbers are present on the receiver and receiver extension. CONDITION: receiver exhibits scattered spots and patches of flaking to the finish that shows through to brown patina overall. Receiver extension and bbl. are very good, showing some light edge wear, some operational wear, as well as some small spots of light surface oxidation. Near mirror bore, exhibiting some scattered light to mild pitting, with some apparent hardened firing residue or grease present towards the breech. Proper manual mechanics. Wood furniture shows some superficial marks and impressions from handling and storage, but otherwise remains very good overall. Buttstock exhibits some scattered mildew spots and spots of flaking to its varnish finish. An excellent candidate for professional restoration! (25-1350/MLW). CURIO. $400-600.
