Lot 1159 J.C. Higgins Model 20 12 Ga NVSN

The J.C. Higgins line of firearms and sporting goods was used by Sears Roebuck Co. from about 1948-1961 using various makers over that period. The model 20 was made by High Standard. This version was advertised in the Sears catalog as the "De luxe Model" because it has a vent rib barrel and comes with the "POWer PAC" Choke Control System which uses screw in chokes. This is a 12 guage slide action shotgun with a 2 3/4" chamber, and the bore/choke measures 'IM' with a drop-in guage. It features a 22.5" blued vent rib barrel, plus the extended choke tube cage which measures 4" for an overall barrel length of 26.5". It has a fiber optic front sight, and a white mid-bead. The receiver has a shell cut-off on the left side with the safety and slide release also on the left. It has a wood "corn cob" style pump with a flat bottom, a smooth wood semi-pistol grip shoulder stock (sling swivel stud hole covered up), black plastic grip cap, and J.C. Higgins vented rubber recoil pad with black spacer. Metal has lost most of its finish with nearly 0% remaining, and an even coat of rust covers the shotgun. The receiver has some light scratches and what looks to be white paint on the receiver. Serial number was not located. Bore is very dirty, but looks like it could be bright if it was cleaned. The length-of-pull is 13 1/8". The action is sound, but is a little ruff moving the slide forward.
