Lot 982 U.S. Historical Society Robert E. Lee 1851 Navy
.36 Cal. SN: 795. United States Historical Society highly embellished reproduction of the Colt 1851 Navy percussion revolver, commemorating American Confederate General Robert E. Lee. Features 7 1/2" octagon barrel, blue finish with gold ornamentation on the frame, cylinder and barrel assembly; brass trigger guard and back strap, wood grips with inset coin type medallion of Robert E Lee on the top of the left grip. This gun is nicely ornamented with images of the Confederate White House, Lee's Mansion, Lee on his favorite horse, etc. The box is gray lined with two covered compartments holding a nickeled cap tin engraved with Lee's signature, key for the case, and six lead balls covered in gold plate. An inset American Eagle powder flask in bright nitre blue finish and commemorative inset coin complete the display. The wood case is in excellent condition with inset leather panel on the lid showing Lee on his horse "Traveler" with fancy bordering. Condition is perfect/like new. Inside lid of case has brass plaque describing the pistol.
