Lot 916 Springfield 1870 Cadet Rifle .50-70

SN: 39133. U.S. Springfield Trapdoor Cadet 1863/1870 Conversion In .50-70. Single shot "Trapdoor" US military rifle. Has Model 1870 features including arched underside of breech bolt, has matching numbered barrel and receiver, as well as "Model 1870" dated breech bolt (over eagle head. crossed arrows over "US"). Blued finish, 28 2/4" barrel, blade front sight, folding elevator rear sight almost up against the receiver, sling swivels, stacking swivel, 1868 cleaning rod. "1864" dated lock plate. "U.S." stamped buttplate tang, "11" stamped in right buttstock, feint "P" in circle behind triggerguard. Bore is fair, good rifling some scattered light pitting. Metal surfaces are mostly patina brown, with some original blue finish on the receiver, breech block, hammer and lock plate. Wood is good/sound condition, with scratches and scrapes. Action is sound and the markings are clear/readable.
