1980's Buffalo Bill Cody Historical Center Non-Firing Replica Winchester 1873. Serial Number: 494993 (the same number was marked on every one of these). The top of the 24" octagonal barrel is marked "WINCHESTER'S REPEATING ARMS. NEW HAVEN, CONN. U.S.A. / -KING'S IMPROVEMENT PATENTED MARCH 29 1866. OCTOBER 16 1860.-", and at the rear with "44 W.C.F.". The top tang is marked "MODEL 1873.". The bottom of the lifter is marked "44 CAL". The bottom tang is marked "J. ULRICH" (the piece was not actually engraved by Ulrich, that’s simply part of the replica markings), and with the serial number. The receiver, dust cover, nosecap, and buttplate have decorative engraving, and there are buffalo “panel scenes” engraved on the sideplates. The stocks are two-piece checkered walnut with a capped forend, pistol grip with ebony inlay, straight comb, and alloy crescent buttplate, lever finger latch. Rifle would display nice, but there is same scattered patches of pitting on the barrel & magazine.
