Lot 801 J.C. Higgins Model 1017 16 GA. #NVSN
American made box-lock side by side field grade shotgun chambered for 16 gauge, with 2 3/4" chambers. A pre-1968 firearm because there are no serial numbers. This shotgun is a Sears, Roebuck & Company department store brand which is basically a re-branded Stevens Model 311A. It features blued 26" barrels, steel bead front sight, internal hammers, dual smooth curved triggers, serrated sliding tang safety, a 14 3/4" length-of-pull, and checkered top lever. The hardwood furniture consists of a smooth semi-pistol grip stock, smooth forend, and a brown ventilated rubber recoil pad with black spacer. The receiver is color-case hardened, with the rest of the parts being blued. The left bore measures 'IC,' and the right bore measures 'CYL' with a drop-in gauge. The bores appear bright, and the action is smooth and crisp. The furniture wood is in good condition with a few minor blemishes from use, a couple hairline cracks around the wrist, and have been refinished. The remaining original blued finish is approximately 88% with scattered scratches, edge wear, minute surface rust, and general thinning.
