Lot 769 Browning Auto-5 12 Ga #B14252
Designed by John Moses Browning, the classic Auto-5 is a standard weight semi-auto shotgun chambered for 2 3/4" 12 Gauge shells. Remington made the A5 between 1940 and 1947 with the St. Louis barrel address on the left side of the barrel. Shotgun features a blued finish, a 26" barrel, adjustable choke tube, brass bead front sight, magazine cut off, metal trigger guard, smooth slightly curved trigger, and annular cut cross-bolt manual safety behind the trigger. It has two piece hardwood stocks with checkering at the wrist, round knob pistol grip, ventilated Pachmayr recoil pad with black & white spacers, 14-1/2" length-of-pull, 1-11/16 drop at comb, 2-1/4" drop at heel, and finger grooves above the checkering on the forearm provide a "Prince of Wales" style grip. Shotgun displays a limited coverage of floral scroll engravings on the receiver. The original blued metal finish is about 84% with minor scratches, edge wear, and thinning around the bottom of the receiver. The metal has light scattered rust, and a small amount of metal deformation in some of the screw slots. Bore is bright and shiny, and the wood furniture is very good condition with minor scratches and dings. The action is smooth and crisp.
