Lot 740 Colt Frontier Scout .22 LR #1944MES
Revolver marks the celebration of Maine's Sesquicentennial with 3,000 revolvers produced. Revolver features a gold-plated frame, loading gate, barrel, ejector housing, grip frame screws and base pin. The remaining components of the pistol are nickel plated. Smooth simulated pearl grips with gold Colt medallions plus scroll engraving on butt. In 1970, number '1MES' was presented as a gift to Maine's governor, Kenneth Curtis. He is not pro gun, and he refused it allowing the president of Colt to keep it along with the president's normally reserved number 2. It's a single action revolver chambered in .22 Long Rifle, manufactured circa 1970 in Hartford, CT. Featuring a 4-3/4" round barrel, fixed blade front sight, notched frame rear sight, frame mounted firing pin, smooth curved trigger, collard cylinder pin head, 'Colt' embossed ejector button, smooth grip straps, unfluted cylinder, and smooth two-piece faux pearl grips with gold-toned Colt medallions. This pistol is marked, "1820-MAINE SESQUICENTENNIAL-1970" on the left side of the barrel, and the butt is decoratively engraved. The gold-plated finish retained is approximately 98% with superficial scratches and very light edge wear. Metal displays no rust or deformation. The nickel plated finish is also excellent with the same superficial blemishes. Bore is a little dirty, but appears bright with strong rifling. Cylinder chambers are also excellent, and the action is smooth and crisp. Faux pearl grips are in very good condition, but there is a white frosty residue on the surface that comes off. Revolver includes a gold-plated lobster.
